Ambulance Programs

The Bureau of Emergency Medical Services & Trauma System, Arizona Department of Health Services, inspects all air and ground ambulances in Arizona, issues Certificates of Necessity (CON) for ambulance service areas, sets rates for licensed ambulance services, and investigates complaints against ambulance providers.
The Bureau has four regional offices.  Each regional office is responsible for ground and air ambulance registration in their region.  Click here for more information about the ambulance registration process.

The Ambulance and Regional Services Section oversees the regulatory process for ambulance services in Arizona.  Regulation includes all matters affecting services to the public, service areas, ambulance response times, and rates and charges.  This section also audits ambulance companies to ensure providers are charging appropriately.
