Top Six Causes of Injury by Region
The most common cause of injury in every Arizona region is Motor Vehicle Traffic-Related Trauma (MVT). The Western Region had the highest percent of MVT, and the Central Region had the highest percent of Falls. The Southeastern Region had the highest percent of Firearm injuries, and the Northern Region had the highest percent of Struck by/Against, Transport Other, and Cut-Pierce. The MVT category only includes motor vehicles traveling on a public road or highway. Transport Other includes various other types of vehicles such as railway, off-road, watercraft, and aircraft. Struck by/Against includes being struck by objects or people, intentionally or unintentionally.
