Project Match

Principle Investigator: Melissa Thomas
Project Co-Directors: Jytte Methman and Robert Crouse
Duration: 6 years (ending August 31, 2005) - Grant received a no cost extension through August 2006.

Summary: Grant funds are provided by the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) to provide a coordinated, community-based system of care for children & adolescents with serious emotional disturbances (SED) and their families in Pima County, and in a manner consistent with the 12 Arizona Principles under the Jason K Settlement Agreement.

Funds are allocated to Community Partnership of Southern Arizona (CPSA), the Regional Behavioral Health Authority for Pima County and GSA 3, to manage service delivery on behalf of the State, and to the University of Arizona to provide data collection and evaluation activities required under Project Match.

The grant required a non-federal match requirement of $1 in-kind or cash contributions for each $3 of federal funds in years one through three; $1 for $1 of federal funds in year four; and now requires $2 for each $1 of federal funds in years five and six. Approximately 90% of the matching funds for this grant are provided by CPSA and University of Arizona. The remaining 10% is matched by ADHS. The grant requires that amounts provided by the Federal Government, or services assisted or subsidized to any significant extent by the Federal Government, may not be included as match.
