want to acknowledge all the individuals and agencies who have
contributed to this final report. We first want to
particularly thank the students who worked with us on this
project: Ori Parnaby, Libby Ford, M.P.H., Matt McGorray,
M.S., and Michael Kallen PhC, M.P.H. Ori and Libby
assisted in data collection and management, while Matt
organized the data into maps that beautifully displayed data
at a county level across the state. Michael Kallen
performed the factor analyses and led us through the
development of risk indices.
We
next thank Gary Christopherson, Ph.D., Director of the Center
for Applied Spatial Analysis (CASA) at the University of
Arizona. He provided GIS assistance, supervision of
students, and humor to our staff meetings that was invaluable.
During
this past year, Terry Smith, Database Consultant, joined the
group to organize the data for the 40 variables over two years
of data collection into an integrated database that manages
and displays all the data in this report. We thank him
for providing some of the finishing touches to an arduous
process.
Finally, we acknowledge
and thank all of the agencies that provided us with information. They
took valuable staff time to assist us with this project. Those
participating agencies and staff are listed in the Data definitions section
of this report as the data sources. This was a statewide effort that
would have been impossible without the cooperation of all these state
