Division of Behavioral Health Services
Quarterly Health Initiatives
The Arizona Department of Health Services Division of Behavioral Health Services (ADHS/DBHS) is delighted to introduce quarterly health initiatives.
Health is a dynamic state of being. In Behavioral Health, we have long ignored physical health. Holistic treatment requires integration of physical health with behavioral health in order to improve the general health of an individual.
Each quarter, ADHS/DBHS partners with a Physical Health content expert as well as the Tribal and Regional Behavioral Health Authorities (T/RBHAs) to introduce particular health topics which impact consumers receiving behavioral health services.
For the quarter beginning January 1, 2012, the QHI topic is "Mental Health & Healthy Weight". People with mental illness often leave weight unchecked because their attention is focused on caring for other illnesses. Uncontrolled weight gain can lead to obesity which often leads to various chronic illnesses such as heart disease, and diabetes. Uncotrolled weight gain or loss is preventable and manageable often with small lifestyle changes.
This Quarterly Health Kit includes:
Mental Health & Your Weight Educational Handout for Consumers![]()
Previous quarterly topics and their respective kit materials can be found at the QHI Archive
