| The Arizona Department of Health Services (Department) licenses and regulates midwives according to A.R.S. Title 36, Chapter 6, Article 7 (A.R.S. §§ 36-751 through 36-760). These statutes are implemented by Title 9, Chapter 16, Article 1 of the Arizona Administrative Code (R9-16-101 through R9-16-111).
The Department is revising the midwifery rules through two consecutive rulemaking projects. In the first midwifery rulemaking project, the Department will revise the rules related to the midwife license, R9-16-101 through R9-16-105.01. After the midwife license rules have been revised, the second midwifery rulemaking project will revise the rules that include scope of practice and enforcement, R9-16-106 through R9-16-111.
Interested persons will have an opportunity to participate in the rulemaking process with their discussion and comments.
