DEATH MEASURES: These mortality rates are per 100,000 population age-adjusted to the 2000 U.S. standard. Age-adjusted mortality rates are better indicators than crude (unadjusted) death rates when comparing mortality across geographic areas or between subgroups of population that have different age compositions.

INFECTIOUS DISEASES
(cases of):
Arizona Notifiable Diseases - Vaccine preventable diseases include the number of reported cases of measles, mumps, diphtheria, tetanus, rubella, congenital rubella, pertussis, polio and Haemophilus influenzae type b. Sexually Transmitted Diseases include cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis. For HIV/AIDS, if the number of reported cases is between 0 and 3 then, the count will show as <3. Food borne diseases include campylobacteriosis, cryptosporidiosis, E. coli O157:H7, listeriosis, paratyphoid, typhoid fever, salmonellosis, vibriosis and yersiniosis. For Tuberculosis, if the number of reported cases is between 0 and 3, then the count will show as <3. All cases must meet the CSTE/CDC Case Definitions for Public Health Surveillance. Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS), Bureau of Epidemiology and Disease Control, Cases reported in the calendar year 2000.
