After three decades at the top, Michael has been unseated by Jose as the most popular boy baby name in Arizona, while Jennifer and Jessica have fallen out of the top 10 most popular girl names.

Michael was the most popular boy baby name in Arizona in 1974, 1984, and 1994, but dropped to number six last year among the 46,397 boys born in the state.

Jessica and Jennifer, meanwhile, consistently placed in the top 10 baby girl names in 1974, 1984, and 1994, but fell to numbers 12 and 13, respectively, in 2004. Emily and Isabella were the top two most popular names among the 44,185 girls born in Arizona last year.
