The Arizona Department of Health Services will host a town hall-style meeting May 22 to discuss the future of Maricopa County’s public mental health system.

Four national experts on mental health will appear at the meeting from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Mountain Preserve Conference Center, 1431 E. Dunlap, in Phoenix. The meeting is free and open to the public.

“We want to hear directly from the people who are most impacted by Arizona’s system for providing mental health services in Maricopa County,” said Eddy Broadway, Deputy Director of the Department of Health Services. “This discussion will help us identify options as we develop an RFP for the county’s behavioral health contract.”

About 58,000 persons with mental illnesses are served through the Regional Behavioral Health Authority in Maricopa County, ValueOptions.
