Due to the recent recall by the Castelberry's food company, the Arizona Department of Health Services advises consumers to be on alert for affected products and potential symptoms.

On July 18, a nation-wide recall was issued for certain Castleberry's food products due to possible botulism contamination. The recall was expanded on July 21, to include almost 100 varieties of Castleberry's canned meat, meatless hot dog chili sauce and Natural Balance Dog food. Although there are no reported cases in Arizona, consumers are advised to be on alert for updated information regarding this recall and properly dispose of any recalled product.

Symptoms of botulism after ingestion of a contaminated product include, but are not limited to double vision, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, fatigue and muscle weakness. These symptoms can appear within 6 hours to 2 weeks, but most typically between 18-36 hours.
