The Arizona Department of Health Services has gained a new Public Information Officer and Communications Director, Laura Oxley.

Oxley left her position as Public Affairs Officer at the Arizona Department of Homeland Security to handle communications at ADHS.

She replaces Michael Murphy, who departed the Agency two weeks ago to become Communications Director for Maricopa Integrated Health System.

In Oxley’s five years in Phoenix she has held positions with the Arizona Department of Agriculture as the acting Public Information Officer and KPHO Channel 5 as the Executive Producer for Special Projects. She helped boost News Channel 5’s viewership by creating investigations and special reports based on research done of viewer preferences, resulting in the first number 1 newscast in the station’s history.

Previously she worked at a number of news stations in Kansas City as an executive producer, a producer, and an assignment editor.
