Physical Plant Health and Safety Codes and Standards Rulemaking (Exempt)
On April 13, 2011, Governor Brewer signed HB2634 (Laws 2011, Chapter 96), which requires the Department to revise rules to reduce monetary or regulatory costs on persons or individuals, streamline the regulation process, and facilitate licensure of integrated health programs that provide both behavioral and physical health services. As part of this project, the Department amended Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R9-1-412 to update the incorporated physical plant health and safety codes and standards. This rule was last revised in 2006, so many of the physical plant health and safety codes and standards were out-of-date and in conflict with local health and safety codes and standards that persons must follow when building or modifying a health care institution. The Department also removed some of the physical plant health and safety codes and standards that are in the current rule and no longer used.
The Department solicited and received one comment from the public about the adopted rule from an online survey that ended May 5, 2013.
