Mass Fatalities Conference
"Developing a Comprehensive and Compassionate Response"
Overview
The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS)/Bureau of Public Health Emergency Preparedness (BPHEP) hosted a Mass Fatalities Conference on July 18 and 19, 2007, at Crowne Plaza San Marcos Resort in Chandler, Ariz.
The event was produced in partnership with the Arizona Division of Emergency Management (ADEM), county and tribal public health partners and Critical Response & Emergency Systems Training (CREST).
The Mass Fatalities Conference was held to "help participants better understand issues associated with mass fatality incidents, including lessons learned and best practices; address the gaps and shortcomings in mass fatality planning nationwide; and provide a forum for interagency collaboration and understanding."
In attendance were medical examiners; funeral and hospital directors; elected, tribal, law enforcement and school officials; business leaders; and representatives of the public health and emergency management communities.
