Overview
The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS)/Bureau of Public Health Emergency Preparedness (BPHEP) was established in 2004 to prepare for and support local responses to public health emergencies. BPHEP is underwritten by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP).
What does BPHEP do?
BPHEP partners with internal, governmental and community partners (e.g., county health departments, hospitals, clinics and tribal nations) to satisfy CDC and HPP grant directives and preparedness requirements with the purpose of protecting the wellbeing of all Arizonians and strengthening the state public health network.
BPHEP also collaborates with hospitals and public health entities to develop preparedness training for health care professionals and conduct discussion– and operations-based exercises that test response plans and capabilities. Trainings and exercises are designed according to grant guidance and the needs of ADHS stakeholders.
