Mission

To facilitate collaboration among public health, healthcare, pre-hospital entities, and various community partners to prepare for, respond to, and recover from an emergency or disaster.

Background

The Northern Healthcare Coalition consists of four rural counties (Apache, Coconino, Navajo, and Yavapai), and with the support of public health emergency preparedness coordinators these communities have been meeting informally. The geographic area is home to approximately 526,198 Arizonans, and is 47, 488 square miles that includes:

  • Two major interstates
  • Ten hospitals, and multiple clinics
  • One large university
  • Several colleges
  • Several tourist destination, and host one of the seven natural wonders of the world—Grand Canyon

  • Severe Weather
  • Fire
  • Flooding

Preparedness Objectives

  • Share information about regional resources
  • Share information about various activities in respective disciplines
  • Share information about healthcare system patient capacity

Response Objectives

  • Recognize most response would be limited due to size and isolation
  • Resources from surrounding areas would be needed to support any response
  • Other objectives will be defined when coalition formalizes
