To facilitate collaboration among public health, healthcare, pre-hospital entities, and various community partners to prepare for, respond to, and recover from an emergency or disaster.


The Western Healthcare Coalition is home to approximately 438,487 Arizonans, and is 26,127 square miles. This coalition consists of three rural counties (La Paz, Mohave, and Yavapai), and community primary industry is agriculture. With the support of public health emergency preparedness coordinators, these rural communities have been meeting regularly. This geographic area also includes a major river, colleges, and many tourist destinations as well as:

  • Two major interstates
  • Several state highways
  • Seven hospitals
  • One international border county

  • Resources from surrounding areas would need to support any response
