Arizona Loan Repayment Program: To provide an incentive for primary care providers and dentists to provide services in the underserved areas of the State. Program funds are used to repay qualifying educational loans in return for primary care service provision in federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas
(HPSAs).

Arizona State 30 J-1 Visa Waiver Program:
The office supports waivers for primary care physicians (family or general practice, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, and general internal medicine) in federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA), Medically Underserved Areas (MUA), or Medically Underserved Populations (MUP), and for psychiatrists in mental health
HPSAs.

Arizona
National Interest Waiver Program: The federal National Interest Waiver (NIW)
program allows certain foreign workers with advanced degrees, including
foreign physicians (MDs), or exceptional abilities to work in the United
States. Under the federal NIW program, a state health department may support
with an attestation letter a request for a national interest waiver for a
foreign physician. The foreign physician must agree to provide primary care
services full time in a federally designated primary health professional
shortage area (HPSA), medically underserved area (MUA), medically
underserved population (MUP), or mental health professional shortage area (MHPSA)
for an aggregate of five years.

National Health Service Corps (NHSC)
(of Arizona): It recruits and places health professionals at eligible sites within federally designated HPSAs. NHSC recruits primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified nurse-midwives, dentists, dental hygienists, and mental health professionals. These providers serve in community-based systems of care in return for scholarship or loan repayment assistance.

Corps (NHSC) is committed to increasing access to primary care services
and reducing health disparities for people in health professional shortage
areas (HPSAs) by assisting communities through recruitment and retention,
site development, practice management, and quality assurance activities.

Program
Search program is designed to provide opportunities for health professions
students and residents to serve in interdisciplinary primary health care
teams at Community Health Centers. The program encourages those same
providers to work in underserved communities.

The College of Nursing is socially
embedded in the community through its three academic nursing centers and
established service programs with the homeless and other vulnerable
populations. Nurses have the opportunity to providing services to the

Arizona Hispanic Center of Excellence, part of a national effort funded by
the Department of Health and Human Services - Health Resources and Services
Administration. Part of the work addresses increasing the number of Hispanic

Southwest, and improving the cultural competency of health care services for
Hispanic communities.

Minority Affairs, Med-Start/Maricopa Med-Start (M2) Summer Program
Med-Start is a summer academic
enrichment program for any Arizona high school student interested in a
health career. Two sites are available, one at The University of Arizona in
Tucson and the other at Arizona State University in Phoenix (Maricopa
Med-Start).

Fostering and Achieving Cultural Equity and Sensitivity (F.A.C.E.S.) Internship
The F.A.C.E.S. Internship is an
undergraduate course for students that are enrolled at either The University
of Arizona or Pima Community College. The internship provides pre-health
undergraduate students with valuable clinical experience, allows students to
explore their career options, provides exposure to various cultural aspects
in the health care system, and targets students who are interested in all
allied health professions.
