  • Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) - Minority Health

    The Agency for Health Research and Quality is an agency in Health and Human Services that publishes an annual Health Disparities Report.

              Excellence Centers to Eliminate Ethnic/Racial Disparities (EXCEED)

              To understand the causes and factors of racial/ethnic inequalities, the Agency for 
              Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has awarded grants to nine "Excellence
              Centers to Eliminate Ethnic/Racial Disparities" (EXCEED) that investigates a different
              theme in an effort to identify and eliminate the causes of health disparities.
     
  • Alliance for a Healthier Generation

    The Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities integrates studies across National Cancer Institute (NCI)'s research divisions to identify scientific and policy areas that provide opportunities to reduce and eliminate cancer health disparities.

    Closing the Health Gap is a national campaign designed to help improve the health of racial and ethnic minority populations, who are affected by serious diseases and health conditions at far greater rates than other Americans. Three key elements of the Closing the Health Gap campaign are Celebra La Vida Con Salud (Celebrate a Healthy Life), Take a Loved One for a Checkup Day, and Know What to Do for Life.

    Expecting Success is a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) intended to improve the quality of health care provided to minority populations in the United States. This program is part of the RWJF's overall effort to develop solutions to the well-documented problem of racial and ethnic disparities in health care. The Expecting Success program consists of hospitals across the country applying quality improvement techniques to the challenge of reducing health care disparities.

    The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation is a non-profit, private operating foundation focusing on the major health care issues facing the nation, and has been extensively involved in minority health and health disparities issues.

Those include cancer, exercise and fitness and reproductive health. Also available at the site are links to major reports, covering gender differences and women’s health across the nation, which come from different agencies and organizations. Since its founding in 1997, the organization has focused on injury and violence prevention, traffic safety, health disparities, nutrition and physical activity, and youth development.
     
  • Racial & Ethnic Health Disparities Coalition (REHDC)

    REHDC is a working group of Washington-based national and local organizations concerned about effectively addressing the health status gap in communities of color. REHDC's goal is to support and promote legislative, policy and budget initiatives that will increase the nation's effectiveness in closing the health status gap.

  • Rural Assistance Center (RAC)

    RAC was established in December 2002 as a rural health and human services "information portal." RAC helps rural communities and other rural stakeholders access the full range of available programs, funding, and research that can enable them to provide quality health and human services to rural residents.
     
  • SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Health Collective

    The SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Health Collective is a network of local, regional and national grassroots agencies representing five primary ethnic populations/indigenous nations: African American, Arab American/Middle Eastern, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latina and Native American/Indigenous. The Collective was formed to educate women of color and policy makers on reproductive and sexual health and rights, and to work towards the access of health services, information and resources that are culturally and linguistically appropriate.

  • Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration - Resource Center to Address Discrimination and Stigma

    SAMHSA's Resource Center to Address Discrimination and Stigma (ADS Center) provides practical assistance advice on countering discrimination and stigma associated with mental illness.

  • Turning Point Initiative

    Started in 1997, Turning Point created a network of 23 state partners and five National Excellence Collaboratives to transform and strengthen the public health system in the United States. Although the program has closed, many of its products are archived on its website and are still available for download and use.
