Chronic pain in the elderly is a significant problem. Due to chemical changes in the body, the elderly become vulnerable to side effects and overdosing associated with analgesic agents. Therefore the managing of chronic cancer pain and chronic nonmalignant pain in this increasing population is a never ending challenge.
Chronic headache is still a frequent problem in old age, affecting about 10% of all women and 5% of all men older than 70 years.
