Community Development Initiative of Arizona
CDI-AZ

The goal of the Community Development Initiative of Arizona is for families and agencies to work hand in hand to develop and enhance self-reliant, self-sustaining communities.

CDI-AZ is fundamentally different from other models of “family involvement”, because it supports a true commitment to family-professional partnerships. This community development philosophy is family-led and agency supported not agency led and family supported. No one group can do this work successfully without the other.

Governor Napolitano expressed her support of the Parent Led Initiative at the August 2004 Governor’s Children's Cabinet meeting. The Parent Leaders recommended a process of bringing together families and constituents of Arizona’s child-serving agencies.

The Summit, “Circles of Success, Communities ofbubbles Strength”  was held in April 2005. It was the kickoff event to promote ongoing collaborative learning, partnerships, and action. Participants developed a strategic plan to implement this initiative within their agency.
