Environmental Toxicology Program

The Environmental Toxicology Program assists communities in understanding potential public health effects from known or suspected environmental exposures. The program is funded by a grant from the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), which is a sister agency to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. The program works with other agencies such as the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), to evaluate potential health effects from environmental exposures. The program prioritizes projects which discuss the health effects at USEPA Superfund sites. However, the program has also completed health consultations for other sites such as brownfield sites.
