2014 Infectious Disease Training & Exercise

Agendas

This three-day infectious disease training and exercise introduces participants to a variety of topics in infectious disease including: vaccine preventable diseases; nosocomial infections; tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases; vector-borne and zoonotic diseases; food-borne diseases; and information on outbreaks and investigations. Participants will obtain the most current infectious disease information and have the opportunity to network with a variety of partners including state and local health, infection control practitioners, public and community health nurses, health educators, epidemiologists, sanitarians, correctional facility representatives, animal control agencies, preparedness coordinators, laboratorians, border health counterparts, and university faculty and students. Sessions shall be led by experts in the field of infectious disease with emphasis on current trends. Participants are encouraged to forge connections with partners and exchange information and knowledge of current infectious disease topics.

This tabletop exercise will involve epidemiologists and preparedness staff from Local Health Departments, Infection Control Practitioners and other local partners and State and Federal agencies in responding to a health emergency caused by pandemic influenza. The purpose of this exercise is to provide participants an opportunity to evaluate current response concepts, plans, and capabilities for a response to a pandemic outbreak in YOUR jurisdiction or facility. The exercise will focus on communication within your agency as well as with other local, state and federal partners and will also focus on the response required for the event. The exercise also looks at what assets and resources may be needed to deal with the incident, as well as the role of public information to the overall response effort. Participants will be broken into small groups for roundtable discussion sessions.

Registration is currently open & there is capacity for 350 attendees. If you register early, please make sure to cancel your registration if you can no longer attend so that those on the waiting list can join the event. Breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided for all three days of this activity. Please make sure you register.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact Christine Wampler.
