Agenda

The 33rd Annual Vector-Borne & Zoonotic Disease Conference & Workshop featured a panel of local and national experts to discuss the ever-changing world of vector-borne and zoonotic diseases. Topics included enhanced influenza surveillance and zoonotic transmission, bats and rabies, plague, Burkholderia pseudomallei, mosquito surveillance and control, new mosquito control products, dengue, and updates from national meetings. Speakers from ADHS, University of Arizona, Arizona Game & Fish, USDA Wildlife Services, Northern Arizona University, Maricopa, Coconino, and Yuma counties presented.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

(4.5) CEUs have been approved for Day 1 and (6) CEUs have been approved for Day 2 for licensed pesticide applicators by the State of Arizona Office of Pest Management. A list of licensed pesticide applicators that attended the meeting have been submitted to the Office of Pest Management as of 5/11/09. (4) CEUs have been approved for Veterinarians by the Arizona State Veterinary Medical Examining Board.
(12) hours have been approved by the Sanitarian’s Council for sanitarians attending both days of the conference.
