* All of these positive animals, except one bobcat, were infected with
the Arizona Gray Fox variant of rabies.
During 2002, there were 2737 animals tested for rabies in AZ,
including animals of 25 different species (including all bats as one
species).
Of the rabies reservoir species, 376 skunks (44+), 84 foxes
(33+), and 505 bats (56+) were tested.
