Hematopoietic & Lymphoid Neoplasm Online Training
Includes 13 presentations for the hematopoietic and lymphoid neoplasms project. New reportability rules went into effect for cases diagnosed beginning January 1, 2010. Each presentation includes a quiz testing key concepts. The National Cancer Registrars Association has approved the presentations for continuing education units. The presentations are located at the National Cancer Institute SEER Program.
The presentations cover topics such as:
- Disease presentation and the diagnostic process
- The lineages of hematopoietic and lymphoid neoplasms
- How to move through the rules and the database
- How to use the rules
- Using the database to its fullest potential
- How to use the electronic manual efficiently
Cyber Cancer Registry
Interactive virtual registry system that develops and assesses the skills of registry personnel. The site includes exercises in core areas of cancer registry operations and gives immediate feedback to the user. The Cyber Cancer Registry is included in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) training web site.
NPCR Education and Training Series
NPCR Education and Training Series (NETS) is a series of self-paced modules containing slide presentations with accompanying detailed notes and exercises. CE’s are not available. Even though the description states that the NETS is designed for trainers, anyone can access the information. The series are located on the CDC NPCR training web site. Presentations include:

How to Collect High Quality Cancer Surveillance Data
Each of 6 units, made up of slide presentations with notes and exercises, focuses on coding site, histology, staging, and treatment data for a major cancer. The modules are located on the CDC NPCR web site and include the following cancers:
- Breast
- CNS
- Colorectal
- Lung
- Melanoma/Skin
- Prostate
Note: These presentations include only pre-2007 rules for determining multiple primaries and histology.

Training for the Multiple Primary and Histology Coding Rules
Basic and advanced training is provided using several formats: power point slides, web casts and web cast transcripts. Includes training on general instructions and each of the covered sites. Exercises are included. CTR’s may obtain CE’s for participation. There are two sets of webcasts, "The Fundamentals" and "Beyond the Basics." The training is provided on the National Cancer Institute SEER web site.
