Medical Care and Services

  • A statewide system of services and supports for families of children 0-3 years of age with disabilities or developmental delays.
  • Many children with birth defects qualify.
  • If your child qualifies, a Service Coordinator, several medical professionals, and you will work as a team to set goals for your child’s growth, development and learning. Team members will share information and resources and will help you enroll your child in programs to help her/him develop to her/his full potential.
  • Through AzEIP, your child MAY be eligible to receive: case management; developmental screening; assistive technology services; speech, physical and/or occupational therapy; family training, counseling or home visits; nutrition services; nursing services; audiology services; transportation for medical purposes; respite care or vision services.

  • Children with many different types of birth defects are eligible and encouraged to enroll.
  • Special doctors, nurses, social workers and therapists work as a team to medically treat your child. Multidisciplinary teams like this one help children to have the best outcomes possible.
  • You can often see multiple specialists on the same day at the same clinic.
  • Qualified children may also receive durable medical equipment; limited home health services; medication; nursing services; limited physical, occupational and speech therapy; or vision services.
  • If you have health insurance, CRS will bill your insurance company first. You will be responsible for a part or all of the remaining costs, depending on your level of financial need. (CRS may pay for a part of the costs.)

State Health Department Service Coordinators can:

  • Provide information and educational materials.
  • Help you find a way to get and pay for medical supplies or services that your child needs.
