rate = the total number of suicides in 1985-1995 per 100,000 elderly 65 years or older per year
The 1990 census counts multiplied by eleven were used as denominators for average annual rate calculation for both tables
From 1985 to 1995, the annual suicide rates were at least 17 percent higher in Yavapai County than the corresponding rate for the entire state. The annual number of suicides and suicide rates for several counties with small populations (Graham, Gila, Greenlee, La Paz and Santa Cruz) varied considerably from year to year).
Yavapai, Navajo, Mohave, Gila, and Apache counties had the highest 1985-1995 average annual suicide death rates among 15-19 year olds.
La Paz, Gila, Mohave and Yavapai counties had the highest suicide mortality rates among the elderly 65 and older in the 1985-1995 period.
