Campaigns & Initiatives
One of the key objectives of the Arizona Health Disparities Center is to improve access to interpretive services, resources and information available to populations with Limited English Proficiency (LEP). The AHDC is working towards this goal through research, strategic alliances and resource development.
The AHDC collects data and conducts research to evaluate the use and availability of Language Access Services (LAS) to populations with LEP. The most recent assessment was conducted by the Arizona Department of Health Services in partnership with the Arizona Alliance for Community Health Centers, and the Asian Pacific Community in Action, Health through Action Arizona. The goal of the assessment was to determine opportunities and barriers to language access services for LEP patients by assessing the language access knowledge, opinions and needs of health care professionals at community health centers in Arizona.
