The gap between breast cancer diagnosis and access to treatment has grown in Arizona. Treatment funding has fallen; creating a gap between breast cancer diagnosis and treatment initiation for breast cancer patients not able to afford treatment. The Arizona Department of Health Services, Cancer Prevention and Control Program, has stepped into that gap for these patients through its “Close the Gap” campaign. The sole purpose of “Close the Gap” is to ensure all breast cancer patients in Arizona have access to lifesaving treatment.
